Baccarat Crystal decanter like no other

Twenty craftsmen, many from  Meilleurs Ouvriers de France were involved in creating the 9 liter crystal decanter.  One of Baccarat’s Chevaliers de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres also took part in creating this one-of-kind statement from Louis XIII.

Let’s decode that so you know how special this is.

Meilleurs Ouvriers de France is a competition in France held every 4 years that cover a variety of artistic trades like textiles, metal work, and in this case, crystal. Think of it as the olympics for artisans.

Chevaliers de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres or  Knights of the Order of Arts and Letters – This is prestigious award given by the French government for “significantly contributed to the enrichment of the French cultural inheritance”

Is this Rémy Martins gilded lily?

…But is this really a pinnacle statement from Rémy Martin or of Baccarat?  As you have read, the House of Baccarat compiled a team of the very best of the best craftsmen to create the bottle.  The spirit within however was not an ultra-rare expression like we have seen in the Black Pearl or Rare Cask editions, but rather the traditional Louis XIII.

Louis XIII cognac is special in its own right.   However for this one-of-a-kind effort you would think it would be reserved for something even more rare.  Perhaps the fact it’s worthy is the message.

Le Salmanazar current and future home

If you want to see it for yourself, you just need to hop a plane to Beijing.  The decanter is on display at Louis XIII flagship boutique in Shin Kong Place.

At the time of this writing there has not been any reports of any buyers.  It’s hard to image the most ardent cognac aficionado dropping nearly half a million on a 9-liter decanter.  Oh yeah, did we mention it caries a $450,000 price tag?  Considering it contains the same Louis XIII that is in their 750ml bottle proudly on display at their home bar.

We would not be surprised if Le Salmanazar eventually finds a home at a high-end hotel lounge or restaurant in either Las Vegas, Macao, or Dubai.  The  33 pound  Baccarat decanter is the ultimate luxury showpiece.  That includes bragging rights of owning the largest cognac bottle ever.

That is until the 10-liter is created.

Of course if you love Louis XIII, have very deep pockets, and want this ultra-exclusive crystal decanter for yourself, you can email conciergerie@louis-xiii.com for more information.
