The highly-anticipated opening of Downtown Sarasota’s Art Ovation Hotel is about to make its debut and paint the town red. They are partnering with the Ringling College of Art + Design to celebrate and embrace the vibrant arts and culture scene Sarasota is built upon and thrives on. This new addition to downtown will host a private opening of its inaugural exhibit on Thursday, April 12, “LEGACY: An Exhibition by Ringling College of Art and Design Faculty and Alumni.” The works will be on display through June 27.
During the event, those in attendance can experience all aspects of the hotel including the lobby’s Gallery Lounge and the Perspective Rooftop Pool Bar to appreciate collections by contemporary artists from the Ringling College of Art + Design.
At the opening, works on display will be by artists who include Jason Aponte, Joe Fig, Thomas Carabasi, Cynthia Mason, Jill Taffet, and Jeff Schwartz.
Proceeds from the sales at the opening go directly to the College’s scholarship fund.
The downtown Sarasota hotel has been designed to “fully immerse guests in the creative and artistic experience.” It will offer an Artists-in-Residence program and will engage its guests in the area’s abundant events centered around its cultural scene. It will continue this exclusive collaboration with the Ringling College with opportunities for students to enrich their education and experience and guests will gain access to the College’s lectures, openings, and opportunities to join in special events and galas.
Even at the close of season, it’s an exciting time for the city and especially the year-round residents who have an appreciation for art and design. This isn’t something being done for tourists and seasonal residents only, but rather for the city as a whole and an enriching offering to visiting guests.
Most importantly, this is an initiative to recognize and support what the students of the College are doing to enhance their education and grow their artistic talents. For more information visit, https://artovationhotel.com/.
