In 1967 AMG Motorenbau und Entwicklungsgesellschaft mbH began designing and building race engines in picturesque Burgstall, Germany. Over the next 50 years AMG would move to Affaltercach, enter a cooperative agreement with Daimler-Benz AG to make modified Mercedes, eventually getting acquired by DaimlerChrysler in 1999 and rebranded Mercedes-AMG GmbH.
A half century of engineering and design have given Mercedes-AMG a luxury pedigree that continues to capture the hearts and imaginations of discerning drivers all over the world. Behind the wheel pulses begin to race before the accelerator is even touched.
At 50, Mercedes-AMG is showing no signs of slowing down. In celebration of their golden anniversary, three new models are being unveiled at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show.
“2016 was the most successful year so far in our company’s history. We shall be using this momentum to fill even more customers with enthusiasm for Mercedes-AMG in our anniversary year, 2017. We shall be supported in this by our new Special Edition models, which we are presenting at the Geneva Motor Show. These models offer our customers an even wider choice of individual performance models,” Tobias Moers, CEO of Mercedes-AMG GmbH.
AMG GT C Roadster Edition 50
Power is Sexy. With aggressive lines from the panamerica grille to the rear diffuser, a handcrafted AMG 4.0L V8 biturbo engine under the hood producing 550 horsepower, and a custom designo Graphite Grey Magno paint job with black chrome and silver accents, the GT Edition 50 may very well be the sexiest thing on the road in 2018. Only 500 will be produced and of that, only 50 will be shipped to the United States.
Mercedes-AMG C63 Cabriolet Ocean Blue Edition
Even more exclusive is the Ocean Blue Edition for the AMG C63 S Cabriolet. Only 150 will be produced.
The C63 also sports a handcrafted AMG 4.0L V8 biturbo, this one churning out 503 horsepower and 516 pounds of torque which will top you out at 174 mph (electronically limited).
Impressive as that is, the real draw is what is in the cabin. The focus on stylish accents and luxurious comfort are what will bring people the C63.
Mercedes-AMG C43 Coupe and Cabriolet
The AMG C43 comes in black with black exterior details. Under the hood is an AMG-enhanced 3.0L V6 biturbo that puts out 362 horsepower topping out at 130 mph (electronically limited).
