As we wind down the last days of summer it is abundantly clear it is not going out without a fight.  As Chicagoans look for ways to beat the heat, a delicious option is Amorino; a north side artisanal gelato shop that caught our sweat tooth and heart.

Amorino started in Paris back in 2002 and since then has grown to a global presence with boutiques in luxury markets across the world from Seoul to Dubai, Berlin to Beverly Hills.

Amorino Chicago on the corner of State Street and Chestnut

When Amorino opened in Chicago (on State and Chestnut) there were long lines and long waits to the distinctive flower shaped gelato.   Its a cramped little space but worth the wait.  The quality is without question as they pride themselves in using fresh ingredients without any artificial colors or flavors.

Cramped store proves good things come in small packages

As good as the gelato is, what really blew me away is the gelato macarons … delicate macaron cookies with gelato in the middle is just heaven.
