With the summer season in full swing, we’ve got just the right cocktail recipes to get you through these sultry, and sometimes sweltering, days and nights ahead.
We seem to be crushing on gin lately, the slightly floral botanical-derived spirit is the perfect foundation for a refreshing summer sipper. The fine folks at Colangelo & Partners recently introduced us to The London No 1 gin. The color is gorgeous – it has a blue hue and I must say the taste is exquisite! Twelve botanicals give it its smooth taste and the blue hue comes from the gardenia flower also lending a jasmine aroma.

Next, we take a sip into summer from the fine folks at Uchi in Austin, Texas, with James Beard award-winning chef Tyson Cole. Cole has a creative knack for putting a delicious spin on traditional menu items, his version of chips and salsa are somewhat of a lettuce wrap with dipping sauce – it’s divine! The folks at Uchi followed his lead and created the Watermelon and Thai Chili Sakerinha (pictured at top), this cocktail is inspired by the traditional Caipirinha cocktail. They describe it as refreshing with just a hint of spice.
Watermelon and Thai Chili Sakerinha
1.5 ounces of watermelon/thai chili juice
0.25 ounces of lime juice
2.5 ounces of sake.
Served over ice, with a 1/3 salt rim. Lime round garnish.
Wishing you and yours a refreshing and happy summer! Cheers!
