Two words: Snake Wine

Just in time for Valentines day.

The Snake Wine is an authentic alcoholic beverage from Vietnam, a rice wine bottle in which contains a real Cobra from a registered farm in Vietnam, and a smaller green snake Trimeresurus gramineus (a.k.a. the Bamboo Pit Viper). This should not be confused with Habu Sake from Japan though the flavor and medicinal benefits are almost identical.

From the website:
Snake wine and Scorpion wine contains rice wine, ginseng root, seed pods, medicinal red pepper pellets, a lovely real cobra and a real green tree snake (the snakes enhance the flavor and the purpose of snake wine). The two snakes are artistically arranged as follow: the cobra opens its hood in an aggression mode while biting the green tree snake in its mouth.

Many people in Vietnam and China drink a daily shot for medicinal reasons and it is also appreciated during celebrations.

This makes an unforgettable gift or an amazing showpiece for any bar.  As for the machismo factor, it’s simply off the charts …it makes 4loco look like diet Perrier and if that wasn’t enough, it’s also believed to be a strong natural aphrodisiac; the gift the keeps on giving.

snakewine3Ladies, there are few gifts out there that will make your man feel like a man – I’m not talking about a sophisticate gent about town but rather a chest beating, king of the castle, master of fire, man. e.g. a Harley, His own personal UFC Octagon in the basement, a Desert Eagle .44 Magnum, a beer tap on the nightstand, but nothing holds a candle to this. I defy you to find anything more manly than a liquor bottle with a Cobra and Pit Viper or Scorpion in it.

No doubt you’re thinking to yourself, how can this possibly be safe.  Cobra venom (actually most snake venom for that matter) are protein-based they are inactivated by the denaturing effects of ethanol, (the snake soaking in 80 proof rice wine will steep for months, long enough to where it is no longer a threat. Some have reported a slight numbness of their mouth but it’s only temporary and soon goes away. The amino acids do remain and are the foundation of the many health benefits associated with this drink. It’s believed to treat different health problems such as back pain, rheumatism, lumbago, and other painful health conditions.

Once the rice wine is consumed, you can refill the bottle with any high proof (80+) rice wine or clear neutral spirit like vodka or gin. The snakes should keep for years (yes Years) as long as they’re in alcohol. Some doctors in China believe it takes years of steeping before you can extract greatest medicinal benefits from the snake.

The Snake Wine bottle is 10 inches (25 cm) tall, a Cobra with the Bamboo Pit Viper in it’s mouth

The Scorpion Wine bottle is 10 inches (25 cm) tall, and features a Cobra holding a real scorpion
